Soul Love Center: Usui Reiki and Practice for Body, Mind and Spirit

Our Mission

Our Mission

Cathy Wong experienced a low point in life before finding direction through Reiki, the I Ching and Buddhist wisdom. In her own words, her original purpose in establishing Soul Love Center was:

“Through Soul Love Center's courses, I share ways to cultivate merit and wisdom properly and help people follow a constructive path. Perhaps you feel uncertain, are searching for meaning in life or seeking spiritual growth. I hope my courses can be a spiritual friend, teacher and companion to you.”

What Reiki Means to Us

Our Understanding of Reiki

“Everyone has an innate ability to heal as a divine gift.” —Mikao Usui, discoverer/founder of Reiki

Mikao Usui established a society in Tokyo in 1922 to teach Usui Reiki. After attunement by a teacher, practitioners rest their hands gently on or above their own or another person's body to support relaxation and care for body and mind.

Reiki is a blessing and grace that can help you reclaim your strength, express love for yourself and explore the essential nature of life more deeply.

Reiki offers a gentle, gradual way to release long-held constraints, integrate body, mind and spirit, and express life's vitality and beauty.

Reiki is support and a response from the heart. Whether you are at a low point or experiencing achievement, your inner strength is there to respond, accompany and guide you.

Change begins with yourself—Reiki helps you reclaim your strength. It is simple and accessible to learn, supporting yourself and others.

To explore Reiki from its origins, read What Is Usui Reiki? A Complete Introduction to Mikao Usui and Reiki and, for the full memorial inscription, Mikao Usui 。

Philosophy

Four Teaching Principles

Principle One: Personal Cultivation Before Technique

Usui's memorial says that “cultivation and discipline were the key to founding the spiritual method”. It also records his instruction to “sit quietly with palms together and recite morning and evening” the Five Principles: just for today, do not be angry, do not worry, be grateful, work diligently and be kind to others. We believe Reiki is first a path of personal cultivation.

Principle Two: Progressive Integration of Body, Mind and Spirit

Our Usui Reiki courses progress through three aspects: Level 1 focuses on the body, Level 2 on the mind, and Advanced on spirituality; Master level trains teachers. For the concept of integration, see What is the integration of body, mind, and spirit? 。

Principle Three: In-Depth Practice in One Tradition

“Among the eighty-four thousand Dharma doors, practising one path deeply can bring great understanding.” We encourage students to explore and practise consistently, discovering themselves anew through Reiki.

Principle Four: Rigorous Teacher Training

We set strict standards for training future Reiki teachers. Students need to accumulate practical Reiki experience before undertaking teacher training. A solid foundation in working with individual cases is essential to becoming a competent teacher. As teachers carrying the Usui Reiki lineage, they also have a responsibility to preserve its authenticity mindfully. For details, see Career Guide for Holistic Wellbeing Practitioners 。

I Ching & Integration

I Ching and holistic integration

Soul Love Center's distinctive approach integrates Usui Reiki with Eastern wisdom:

Wisdom Role in teaching Further reading
I Ching Using yin-yang change as a framework for self-awareness rather than divination The connection between I Ching Philosophy and Reiki Healing
The Five Elements and chakras Comparing two energy maps as a reference for self-awareness Correspondences Between the Five Elements and Seven Chakras
family constellations Observing positions and dynamics in family relationships The I Ching, Family Constellations and Reiki
Buddhist teachings Merit and wisdom, karma and cultivation of the mind Latest news
Tibetan Reiki The Master course teaches symbols from the Usui and Tibetan systems Usui Reiki vs Tibetan Reiki

Usui's memorial also records his knowledge of Buddhist and Christian scriptures and exploration of “spells, divination and physiognomy”, suggesting that Reiki's origins already had connections with traditional East Asian learning.

Our Promise

Our Commitment: Reason and Honesty

We believe that promoting Reiki responsibly requires honesty about what it can and cannot do:

  • Reiki is complementary: we present it as a support for relaxation and self-care, not a replacement for diagnosis or treatment by a registered doctor.
  • An honest account of current research: the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) states that Reiki has not been clearly shown to be effective for any health-related purpose, although studies have not identified harmful effects. For details, see Does Reiki Work? 。
  • Authentic student accounts: we publish only students' real experiences and omit material concerning treatment outcomes for illnesses in accordance with Hong Kong's Undesirable Medical Advertisements Ordinance.
  • No guarantees: no course or Reiki session can guarantee health, financial or other specific outcomes.
  • Transparent course information: the content, class times and fees for each level are clearly listed.

Student Voices

Students' Voices

“Reiki is like an emotional stabiliser, easing negative emotions such as sadness, worry and anger within a short time, around 5–10 minutes.”
