Reiki and Abundance: Real-Life Experiences
A Story of Usui Reiki, the I Ching's Turn from Adversity to Prosperity, and Personal Transformation
“Creating abundance” is one reason people become interested in Reiki. This article presents accounts shared by Soul Love Center teacher Cathy Wong: a student who went from several hundred thousand in debt to an increasingly abundant life two years later, and Cathy’s own experience of moving from a low point to renewed prosperity within two years.
Alongside the original accounts, we explore the principles behind these changes from three perspectives: Usui Reiki, the I Ching hexagrams Tai and Pi, and the Buddhist idea of impermanence. We also take a reasoned approach to explaining the limitations of these cases.
⚠️ Note: This case is a personal experience sharing. Each person's situation and results are different, and it does not represent or guarantee any financial, health, or other outcomes. Reiki is a supplementary method for holistic wellbeing and cannot replace professional medical, financial, or legal advice.

In Cathy's Words
1. Cathy's Original Account
Over the past few years, I have felt grateful to meet each of you, and also grateful for every moment you shared with me. Through this course, I have experienced great improvement and transformation in all aspects of my life.
I have seen clear improvements in money, relationships, work and family life. One student particularly impressed me. When she joined the course, she faced debts of several hundred thousand dollars. After completing it, she practised and worked on transformation wholeheartedly every day. Two years later, she told me that life was becoming increasingly positive and money more abundant, with profits exceeding two million dollars.
As someone who has been through hardship, I too once reached a low point, facing difficulties with money, work, family and housing. I am grateful that, with Reiki’s help, I experienced a change from adversity to prosperity over two years, rebuilding everything from the beginning.
As taught by Buddha, life is impermanent. When facing difficulties, do not give up easily. The key is to understand the root of the problem and transform it, so that all aspects will welcome better changes. Adversity will inevitably give way to prosperity, but it is the matter of whether you understand the root of the problem.
The first step of the practice is to clarify the nature of the problem.
—— Cathy Wong, Soul Love Center Teacher

Case One
II. Case 1: A Student Transformed from Debt to a Life of Abundance
Starting Point: Debts of Several Hundred Thousand Dollars
This student faced debts of several hundred thousand dollars when joining the course. For many people in Hong Kong, debt pressure is more than a financial issue: it can also affect emotions, sleep, family relationships and performance at work.
Process: Daily Mindful Practice and Transformation
Cathy particularly pointed out that after completing the course, the student practiced and transformed daily. The transformation did not come from 'a single class', but from continuous, daily practice after the class.
Outcome: An Account Two Years Later
Two years later, the student told Cathy that life was becoming increasingly positive and money more abundant, with profits exceeding two million dollars. This is the student's own account and a personal experience.
Similar Student Testimonials
In Student Testimonials The page also includes a similar first-person account. A student had been several hundred thousand in debt. After discovering Reiki, she began to work on blocked energy and understand and forgive her parents from a broader perspective. Their relationship became more harmonious; she also felt more valued at work and found that money flowed more smoothly. She concluded: “I firmly believe that diligent effort brings a return. Saying that I have no time is only an excuse; giving up is never an option for me.”
Case Two
3. Case Two: Cathy's Turn from Adversity to Better Circumstances Within Two Years
A period of hardship in life with multiple challenges
Cathy openly shared that she had faced multiple difficulties such as money, work, family, and housing at the same time, and her life had fallen into a low point.
Finding a way out: from Western courses to Eastern wisdom
In Our Teacher , Cathy shares that she explored hypnosis, family constellations and most Western body, mind and spirit courses. She was ultimately grateful to encounter Reiki, the I Ching and Buddhist wisdom, using Reiki for transformation and putting Buddhist wisdom into daily life.
Starting Again from Zero Within Two Years
She described that through the help of Reiki, she achieved 'Adversity giving way to prosperity' in two years, and all things began from zero. This experience became the starting point for her to teach Usui Reiki at the Soul Love Center. The complete story can be read Cathy Wong: The Healing Journey of an IARP-Registered Reiki Master Teacher 。
I Ching
Four, I Ching perspective: understanding 'Adversity giving way to prosperity'
Cathy used 'Adversity giving way to prosperity' repeatedly, and this four-character phrase is exactly from the I Ching.
The Peace and Standstill Hexagrams
| The name of the hexagram | The sequence of the hexagram | Hexagram imagery | Hexagram judgment | Symbolism |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tai (Peace: Earth over Heaven) | The eleventh hexagram | Kun above, Qian below | ‘Small going, large coming, favorable and prosperous.’ | The energies of heaven and earth meet, allowing all things to flourish |
| Pi (Standstill: Heaven over Earth) | The twelfth hexagram | Qian above, Kun below | “Standstill caused by unworthy people: the noble person's perseverance is not favoured. The great departs and the small approaches.” | The energies of heaven and earth do not meet; movement is blocked |
Fortune and Adversity Can Transform into One Another
The Sequence of the Hexagrams commentary says, “Tai means free passage. Things cannot remain open forever, so Pi follows. Things cannot remain in standstill forever, so Tong Ren follows.” In other words, openness does not last forever, and neither does blockage. This is the philosophical basis for Cathy's statement that adversity gives way to prosperity: adversity is one stage of change, not the endpoint.
The guidance of the I Ching on holistic wellbeing
- Accept change: yin and yang wax and wane, and both low points and high points are part of the cycle.
- See the importance of 'meeting': The Peace hexagram is the meeting of Heaven and Earth; in life, being willing to communicate, connect, and flow is often the key to moving from closed to open.
- Self-cultivation in adversity: The 'I Ching' says 'The just person uses frugal virtue to escape difficulty', reminding us that in adversity, we should preserve virtue and wait for the opportunity.

Buddhist Wisdom
V. Buddhist perspective: Impermanence and recognizing the nature of the problem
Impermanence: Hardship is not always unchanged
Cathy quotes Buddha's teaching 'Life is impermanent.' Impermanence reminds us that good times are not eternal, and hardship is also not permanent; since everything is changing, there is no reason to give up.
Transforming the root of the problem
She emphasized, 'The key is to learn how to transform the root of the problem.' Surface-level issues may be money or work, but the root may be long-term emotions, beliefs, or relationship patterns. Only addressing the surface often leads to the problem recurring.
The first step of practice: recognizing the essence of the problem
“The first step in practice is to recognise the true nature of the problem.” This is also central to Soul Love Center's teaching. The Usui Reiki Level 1 course includes “understanding the aura and how the subconscious affects us” and “working with emotions accumulated in the subconscious”, helping students look inward and understand their difficulties.
Merit and wisdom
Cathy mentioned in the teacher introduction that to live rich, happy, peaceful, and joyful life, one needs merit, and people often overlook the most important point. She hopes to share the correct way to increase merit and wisdom through the course.
Abundance in Reiki
6. An Usui Reiki Perspective: Abundance Is More Than Money
Cathy's original account describes changes in four areas: money, relationships, work and family. From a body, mind and spirit perspective, abundance is balance in life as a whole, not simply a bank balance.
Four Aspects of Abundance
| Aspect | Transformations mentioned by participants |
|---|---|
| Money | From debt to a life of wealth; money flows more smoothly |
| Relationship | Understanding and forgiving parents from a broader perspective, leading to more harmonious relationships |
| Work | Getting more attention in work |
| Family Affection | A deeper connection with family |
The gratitude in the Five Reiki Principles
One of the Five Usui Reiki Principles is “be grateful”. Cathy's account begins with “I feel deeply grateful”, and students often end their stories with gratitude too. Gratitude directs attention towards what we already have and is a starting point for an abundance mindset. For the history of the Five Principles, see What Is Usui Reiki? Common Practices
7. Common practices for participants
Summary of this page and Student Testimonials , the following common themes recur across the transformation stories:
- Consistent practice: one student specifically reminds readers, “When using Reiki, please make sure you keep practising.”
- Daily transformation: the student in Case One “practised and worked on transformation wholeheartedly every day” after the course.
- Caring for parents: students mention respecting and looking after their parents, bringing them happiness and avoiding causing them worry.
- Taking responsibility for oneself: Everyone needs to take responsibility for their thoughts, words, and actions. They should honestly admit their past mistakes and strive to correct them.
- Understanding the essence of the problem: Not only handle the surface, but also find the root of the problem.
- Not giving up easily: 'If saying there's no time, that's just an excuse; giving up is not a choice.'
A 10-minute daily practice
Students who have received Level 1 attunement can recite the Five Principles each morning, practise self-Reiki hand positions for 10 minutes, and record the day's observations and things they are grateful for in a journal at night. A Rational View
8. Reading Abundance Stories Critically
We share these stories to bring inspiration, rather than making promises. When reading, please pay attention to the following points:
- Personal experience: these are students' and the teacher's own accounts and do not represent everyone's results.
- Multiple factors: Life changes usually involve personal efforts, work, economic environment, etc., and should not be attributed solely to Reiki.
- No guarantee: Any course or Reiki healing cannot guarantee wealth or specific results.
- Professional assistance: If facing debt issues, seek advice from qualified financial or debt professionals; if there are health issues, consult a registered doctor.
Reiki itself should be viewed rationally. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) states that Reiki has not been clearly proven effective for any health purpose, but no harmful effects have been found. Common questions about Reiki creating abundance
Learning Reiki means you will definitely create wealth?
No, it's not necessarily the case, and there is no guarantee. The cases on this page represent individual experiences; Ms. Cathy also emphasizes that students' transformations are based on daily mindful practice, transformation, and recognizing the essence of the problem. Financial and debt issues should be addressed by professional advisors.
What does 'Abundance' mean in Usui Reiki?
Abundance is not only about money. Cathy shared that transformation includes aspects such as money, relationships, work, and family. From a holistic wellbeing perspective, abundance also includes inner peace, gratitude, and stability.
How does “adversity giving way to prosperity” relate to the I Ching?
This expression draws on the I Ching’s Peace hexagram (11) and Standstill hexagram (12). The Sequence of the Hexagrams says: “Things cannot remain open forever, so Standstill follows. Things cannot remain blocked forever, so Fellowship with People follows.” It describes how favourable and adverse conditions can turn into one another, with obstruction eventually giving way to openness.
Which course is most related to creating abundance?
Usui Reiki Level 2 Course The content includes 'Connecting universal energy blessings and wishes', 'How to more effectively realize wishes', 'Understanding the laws of karma and how they operate', and 'How to plant the seeds of good fortune (the Law of the Universe)'. For beginners, it is recommended to start with Level 1 to begin.
Can Reiki healing solve debts or health issues?
It cannot replace professional assistance. Reiki is a supportive relaxation and self-care method; health issues should be discussed with a registered doctor, and financial and debt issues should be addressed with qualified professional advice.
